July Fourth: Beat Kitchen, Chicago (02.15.2007)
Another Saville homage, this time not quite so direct, but this is influenced by Saville's club flyer work from the early nineties for Factory's nightclub The Hacienda. I had been working on developing a strong graphic identity with Chicago-based 3 piece Fourth of July (now July Fourth), for about a year when we hit upon the concepts of microbes and lighting effects. In many ways this compliments the music in a strange but appropriate way, so much so that this direction has even produced a music video.
This creative direction is running through the release of their second EP 'Curtain of Stars', and has appeared in numerous forms with different biological, microscoping and highly treated imagery.
